Room reservation requests for the 2012 Southern Region Oireachtas will open at 12:00 a.m. EST on Sunday, March 11, 2012. To book a room at the Marriott New Orleans via the internet, please follow the link below. Per the Marriott website, all reservations requests will require a credit card guarantee, and a one night non-refundable deposit at the time of the reservation. For attendees, no booking code is required. Rooms are $130 per night.

Our friend and fellow IDTANA-Southern Region member Maureen Harling Welty, ADCRG, passed away on Monday night, May 2, 2011, after a long and courageous battle. Our thoughts and prayers are with Maureen's husband Scott, her family and friends, and the Harling Irish dance families. Memorial services will be held in Florida and Chicago at a later date. Information will be posted here on the services when it becomes available.

Reservations will open at 9 a.m. on March 1st for the Oireachtas 2011 hotel rooms. The Oireachtas will be held on December 2nd - 4th at the JW Marriott at Grande Lakes, Orlando. The daily schedule will be the same as last year: - Friday 2nd: Boys and Girls SOLOS, Under 8, Under 9, Under 10, Under 11, Under 12, Under 13
- Saturday 3rd: All TEAMS, plus Men and Ladies SOLOS Under 18, Under 19, Under 20, 20 & over
- Sunday 4th: Boys and Girls SOLOS Under 14, Under 15, Under 16, Under 17
The special room rate is $139 per night plus tax. A non-refundable ONE NIGHT DEPOSIT will be charged to your card immediately. From Regional Director Judy McCafferty, ADCRG: Earlier today, I received correspondence from Sean MacDonnchada, Chairman of An Coimisiun, regarding associations.
Three schools in the Southern Region, the Walsh-Kelley School, Rince na hEireann and the Culkin School, are precluded from participation in the World Championships 2011 due to Association/Relationship Rulings. Their World Qualifiers will have automatic qualification for the 2012 Championships, provided they participate in their relevant qualifying event in 2011.
As a result, additional qualifiers will represent the Southern Region at the 2011 World Championships. The additional qualifiers are:

Each year the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America provides an opportunity for college-age Irish dancers to apply for merit-based scholarships to assist with college tuition. The deadline to submit initial applications for the 2011 selection is December 22, 2010.

Following a review of the costume rules at its Annual General Meeting, held in May 2010, An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha wishes to update and inform its registered members worldwide of the current rules. It is important that teachers, adjudicators, parents and dressmakers are aware of, and work within, the updated regulations. They are outlined hereunder, with the effective date written alongside.
TCRG/ADCRG/TMRF Exams will be given in Washington, DC area, USA, on the weekend of September 30-October 3, 2010. The location is the Marriot Key Bridge Hotel, 1401 Lee Highway, Arlington, Virginia, 22209, 703-524-6400. The closest airport is Washington Reagan (National) Airport (DCA). The hotel does NOT have a complimentary shuttle from the airport; a taxi ride to the hotel should cost approximately $15. Rooms are available for candidates for these exams, at a rate of $149 per night, beginning with September 29 through departure on October 4. To reserve a room, contact the hotel directly and request the group rate for Irish Dance Weekend 2010 (M-1SJD8T). You may also use the hotel’s new ResLink. When you click on the link, you will be taken to the reservation page, where you will see that the group code information has been filled in for you; that guarantees you the group rate.
