Oireachtas 2013 is in Washington, D.C., at National Harbor from December 6 to 8. Hotel reservations will likely open in the early part of next year.

For the first time, the Southern Region offered traditional set competitions for non-solo championship dancers. We are thrilled that so many dancers participated... and here are your results.

The first day of the Southern Region Oireachtas gets underway today with our youngest dancers and our new traditional set competitions.
On the main stages, Boys and Girls Under 8, Under 9, Under 10, Under 11, Under 12 and Under 13 compete. On the traditional set stage, competitions will be held in the Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and 16 & Over categories.
Registered Dancers:
We have been advised that the discounted rate for overnight parking at the Marriott will be extended to our Oireachtas attendees AND visitors. Attendees staying at the Sheraton will be able to park at the Marriott and request the Irish dance rate.
Visitors to the Oireachtas not staying *should* receive a discounted rate, however please be advised that there is not free parking available at the hotel. Additional information will be posted if it becomes available.

A reminder to attendees staying at the Sheraton:
If you are staying at the Sheraton Hotel on Canal Street for our Oireachtas, you will receive your $10.00 per night per room food voucher, when you check in. You will receive an envelope that contains the vouchers. There will be additional New Orleans type material in there as well.
The vouchers are good for any Food and Beverage establishment located in the Sheraton Hotel, including Starbucks. There will be no change given when using the vouchers: if you only spend a few dollars for a soda and chips, say $4.00, you will not get back $6.00.
Please make sure you get your vouchers when you check in .

The hotel block at the Marriott Hotel on Canal Street has filled.
The IDTANA-Southern Region has contracted with the Sheraton New Orleans for a block of rooms for Oireachtas attendees. The Sheraton is located at 500 Canal Street, across the the Marriott hotel where competitions will be held.
The Sheraton block is available for $140 per night. A $10 per room, per night, food voucher will be provided to those within the block.
Reservations for the Sheraton may be made online at https://www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/irishdance or by calling toll fee 1-888-627-7033 until November 1.

The tentative schedule for the 2012 Southern Region Oireachtas will be similar to last year in terms of the days age groups compete.
Team competitions will be held on Saturday, December 1. Depending on the schedule, some smaller team competitions may be moved to Friday, but they would be consistent with those age groups already competing that day (Under 9, Under 12). This is NOT a final decision, but is being provided for planning purposes and will depend on a number of factors including number of registered dancers in these age groups.
Room reservation requests for the 2012 Southern Region Oireachtas will open at 12:00 a.m. EST on Sunday, March 11, 2012.
To book a room at the Marriott New Orleans via the internet, please follow the link below. Per the Marriott website, all reservations requests will require a credit card guarantee, and a one night non-refundable deposit at the time of the reservation.
