#SRO2020 COVID-19 Safety Precautions

#SRO2020 COVID-19 Safety Precautions

 Dear Parents and Students:

As you know, the region is making preparations to hold the Southern Region Oireachtas in Orlando, Florida, the weekend of Dec. 4-6, 2020.  Due to the current pandemic, there will be strict social distancing protocols in place. Our paramount concern is the health and safety of all our dancers and families.

The event will take place at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando.  The ballroom spaces are very large to allow for social distancing to occur. Each ballroom is between 11,000 to 27,000 square feet which is significantly larger than what we normally have.  We will be using the Gatlin and Panzacola areas which can be viewed here.

Some of the protocols that we will put in place are as follows:

  • Access to the hotel and to the competition areas will require temperature checks.
  • Access to the competition rooms will be limited to allow social distancing. Competitions will be split up into groups and only one group at a time will be allowed into the competition area. There will be limits on the number of guests that are allowed to accompany dancers in the ballrooms.
  • There will be no team dancing competitions.
  •  The awards ceremony will be a very different event and will maintain strict social distancing protocols.
  • We have hired a live streaming company so that all registered attendees will have access to competitions going on in each ballroom that they can view on their personal device.
  • There will be holding areas for competitors to wait in until their group is called to compete.
  • The wearing of masks in all areas of the hotel will  be strictly enforced as required by Orange County mandate.  The SRO committee will require masks to be worn AT ALL TIMES while in our contracted space, with the exception of dancers competing onstage.
  • Stage configurations will be modified to maintain social distancing between competitors.
  • The Southern Region Oireachtas committee has hired a conference services company to maintain and enforce the wearing of masks and maintaining social distance protocols. Anyone refusing to comply with these requirements will be removed from the Oireachtas contracted spaces.
  • Mandatory waivers will be required by all competitors and attendees stating that they will comply with all requirements.
  • These and other precautions will be published on the Oireachtas website once detailed plans are finalized.

Sincerely,

The 2020 Southern Region Oireachtas Committee
